Los Angeles California

As the center of the movie, TV, and music industries, Los Angeles’ glamorous reputation attracts visitors worldwide. Our Los Angeles map shows the area most people think of as LA but the city is actually much smaller than the region. LA is actually a collection of many towns spread from the coast out to the desert, bounded to the north by the San Gabriel Mountains.

Downtown Los Angeles is a financial and business center with a huge convention center next to Staples Arena Sports Center. Many of the towns familiar to visitors are on the coast near beaches – Malibu, Santa Monica and Venice are north of LAX, the main airport. Hollywood and Beverly Hills are inland between the airport and downtown. Diverse Los Angeles neighborhoods reflect the many ethnic enclaves of the city – most prominently Hispanic but also Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm are inland on the map – in the center of Orange County (Anaheim). The southern coast of the city has a number of great beaches for sunning, swimming and surfing – Hermosa City Beach, Manhattan State Beach and Redondo State Beach – among the best in California.

With a sunny, mild climate, miles of beaches, four major theme parks, world-class museums, dining and shopping for every taste, visitors have a wide range of options. Even the infamous freeway traffic becomes part of the LA experience.

Hollywood is now only symbolically the center of the television and film industry but you can still visit the "Walk of Fame" on Hollywood Boulevard to see the sidewalk stars for "stars"
