Monterey is "the big city" on the Monterey Peninsula, dominating
the waterfront of Monterey Bay, home to sea lions and otters; visited
by migrating whales. Many Monterey visitors enjoy boat trips out on the
bay to see these creature close up. The city is best known for the
Monterey Bay Aquarium and nearby historic Cannery Row.
Even if you never leave land, there are many reasons to visit

– as well as restaurants, shops, children’s parks, boats, waterfront
trails and golf courses. The climate is mild year-round – rarely too
hot or too cold. With a full line-up of special events like the
