San Jose is a business center but there are a number of museums and attractions in, or close to, downtown.

San Jose California

San Jose is California's primary business center for the High Tech industries with a busy airport, many new office buildings and a sprawling metro area. With nearby Oakland and San Francisco hemmed in, only San Jose could grow and it did – now the third biggest city in the State. Silicon Valley workers and businesses built up the downtown and the neighborhoods rapidly, creating a cultural and economic center equal to its more established neighbors.

Our map shows the main roads and highways near downtown San Jose. If your destination is San Jose, the San Jose International Airport is very close to downtown and is served by many of the major airlines. Two other choices not far from San Jose are SFO airport and OAK airport.
Families enjoy the Tech Museum of Innovation, the Museum of Art and Paramount’s Great America theme park. For a very different experience, tour the bizarre Winchester Mystery House.
Visitors interested in modern architecture will want to see the brand new San Jose City Hall, a light-filled building complex designed by world-famous architect Richard Meier.  The 18-story glass and aluminum tower and freestanding 10-story glass rotunda are designed to reflect the concept of transparency in government affairs.

San Jose weather is warmer and much less foggy than San Francisco – mostly sunny all year. For a scenic drive map of the nearby coast, go to Santa Cruz Coast pages and print out our free map and descriptive text.
